Emily Burns

Buffalo Dachshund Club
Founder and Organizer

Emily is the founder and organizer of the Buffalo Dachshund Club, a Meetup.com group located in Buffalo, NY, created for local Western New York dachshund breed owners. The group supports and advocates for the rescue and adoption of dogs in need, and meets monthly to socialize and educate members about health, nutrition and training for their popular “hot dog” breed. The group also alerts members of rescue initiatives and works  with local rescue groups to help find forever homes for and spread the word about adoptable dogs.

Emily’s work experience includes overseeing corporate communications, marketing, media relations, PR, and social media initiatives for public and private companies and non-profit organizations. She’s currently employed as e-Marketing and Communications Specialist for CPA firm Freed Maxick CPAs, P.C., an Accounting Today Top 100 firm. Emily is responsible for integrating online marketing and public relations strategies into the Firm’s overall institutional and niche marketing and communications plans.

Besides attending to her two rescue dachshunds “Sparky” and “Rhue”, Emily is also a member of the Allentown Village Society, Buffalo Zoo’s ProZooBoard and Buffalo Niagara 360 young professionals program. She attended the State University of New York Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and obtained a B.A. in Advertising and Marketing Communications.
